When I look back at this wedding weekend in Maine, I am still so appreciative that I was invited to be a part of it! Kayla is from the East Coast and she found my photography business through social media. She’s been following me for years and after she got engaged, she inquired about my services. Planning a wedding is hard enough, but when you start pulling vendors in from out of state, it can become even more complicated. It was my goal to try to make this process effortless and smooth. After exchanging emails since 2015, I was so excited to fly out to Maine and finally meet Nathan and Kayla. We are literally on opposite sides of the country, but I could not have asked for better hosts to accommodate our travel. These two are truly a gem of a couple! We arrived two days early and we were greeted with goody bags at the front desk of our hotel. We were invited to their intimate rehearsal dinner (as guests) and served a lobster dinner along the water at sunset. Their rehearsal dinner was our very first meeting encounter and even though it was an evening with just their closest family and friends, they made us feel instantly welcomed. They invited us to sit at their table and we ate and laughed with the couple and their friends like we had known one another for years.
The next morning we showed up to their wedding venue and our jaws dropped!! It was one of the most beautiful wedding settings I had ever seen! Gorgeous 360 views where God’s creation was displayed in all its glory! Since we had dinner with their bridal party the evening prior, we had an effortless start to our day. It was like photographing a group of close friends. The bridesmaids literally made me tear up with laughter!
Nathan and Kayla are high school sweethearts and their love is so genuine and contagious. These two love one another, life, and others with passion. They make you feel like you are their closest friend and they make movie-love look less appealing because their relationship is so inspiring! I had so much fun celebrating these two and capturing their special day. My assistant and I were the only West Coast natives (including guests and vendors) at the wedding and I could not have felt more honored to be involved.

The “Shoe Game.”
The DJ asks various questions about the bride and groom. You place two chairs back to back in the middle of the dance floor. The bride sits in one chair and the groom sits in the other. They take off their shoes and they each hold a pair. Both the bride and groom have two different shoes in their hands. Once they are asked a question, they both raise their partner’s shoe if it describes their tendencies and their own shoe if it represents themselves. The trick is that you can’t see your spouse’s response while hoping that they will answer in the same way.
